On September 24th, 2022, the SLAW team decided to capture a surfing session using a DJI Mavic drone. The large surf from Hurricane Fiona the previous day had dramatically decreased to waist to chest height, which made it perfect for surfers to take out their longboards for a session. The swell was very clean and glassy, which made it an ideal opportunity to capture the beauty of the waves from above.
Using a DJI Mavic drone, the SLAW team was able to get an aerial view of the surfers as they caught and rode the waves. The drone’s high-resolution camera captured the surfers’ movements in slow motion, allowing viewers to see the intricacies of each ride. With the drone’s ability to fly at different altitudes, the SLAW team was able to capture the surfers from different angles, providing a unique and captivating perspective.
