This is part 1 of 2 for this RAW SLAW segment. If you’re a surfer, then you know that there’s nothing quite like scoring some great waves with a few of your buddies. Well, that’s exactly what happened recently at Lowers part of Trestles Beach. This wave is one of the most famous surf breaks in Southern California. As news of the swell started to spread, surfers from all over the region descended upon the break.
The crowds quickly became overwhelming, with dozens of surfers vying for every wave that rolled through. It was chaotic, to say the least, but many surfers ended up getting some amazing rides. Trestles, a world class surf break is known for its consistent waves and perfect lined up waves.

In fact, the waves at Trestles were so good that we’ve decided to make a two-part series out of it. Here is part one of RAW SLAW’s video coverage of the epic day at Trestles.
So, what made the waves at Trestles so special? Well, for one thing, the swell direction was just right. That meant that the waves were breaking perfectly along the reef. This allowed surfers to take off deep and get some long, clean rides all the way to the beach.
Of course, there are always going to be pros and cons to surfing in crowded lineups, especially on days when the waves are firing. But, as the surfers who scored some great waves at Trestles proved, sometimes it can pay off big time.
