Perseverance is another crucial skill for surfers. It’s not uncommon to fall off your board multiple times before catching a good wave. But the feeling of finally catching that perfect wave makes it all worth it. Persistence pays off in surfing, just as it does in life.

The ability to adapt is also critical in surfing. The conditions can change quickly, and it’s important to be able to adjust your approach accordingly. This means being aware of the changing tides, wind, and swell patterns. It’s also important to be open to trying different techniques and styles of surfing to find what works best for you in each set of conditions.

Overall, the morning session at Seaside Reef in Cardiff on April 25th, 2022, was a great reminder of the importance of patience, perseverance, and adaptability in surfing. The smaller south swell mixed in with west wind swell made for challenging conditions, but the surfers who were able to read the waves and adjust their approach were rewarded with some great rides. Stay tuned for Part 2 of the session to see how the surfers fared in the afternoon.
