On January 13th, 2019, we decided to capture the beauty of surfing at the popular Scripps Pier in La Jolla by launching a DJI Mavic Drone to film an aerial video of the surf session. The swell that day was incredible, with super clean lines that allowed surfers to ride some amazing waves. As we watched from above, we were able to capture the stunning beauty of the ocean and the incredible skill of the surfers in the water.

The surfing conditions were truly epic with waves reaching head high to one foot overhead or 5-7 foot faces. The light offshore winds provided some smooth faces for surfers to race down the line and throw some big carves.
The DJI Mavic Drone was the perfect tool for capturing this moment. With its high-quality camera and stable flight capabilities, we were able to get amazing footage of the surfers as they rode the waves. The drone allowed us to get up close and personal with the action, while also capturing the wider view of the ocean and the beach.
As we watched the footage back, we were struck by how lucky we were to have been there that day to witness such a beautiful moment. Surfing is not just a sport, it’s a way of life, and moments like these remind us why we love it so much.
