Surfing is not just a sport, but a way of life for many coastal communities. The thrill of riding a wave in the ocean is a feeling like no other. For members of the Carlsbad Board Riders Surf Team, this connection was on full display at the West Coast Board Riders (WCBR) Surf Contest. The contest being held at their very own local spot of Ponto Jetty in Carlsbad.
The contest brought together surfers from all over the San Diego County. Each vying for the top spot and bragging rights among their peers. But for the Carlsbad Surf Team, this contest held an extra special significance. It was an opportunity to show off their skills on their home turf and represent their community in front of a crowd.

The conditions for the contest were ideal. With offshore winds in the morning and waves ranging from 4 to 7 feet throughout the day. These conditions allowed the surfers to showcase their abilities and put on an impressive display of surfing.
The Carlsbad Board Riders Team did not disappoint. Members putting on an incredible performance and making their mark in the competition. But beyond the scores and rankings, what truly stood out was the sense of community and camaraderie among the surfers.
Surfing is often seen as an individual sport, but it’s events like these that remind us that it’s much more than that. It’s a way of connecting with others who share our passion for the ocean and the waves.
