These surfers are some of the best in the world, and their presence at the contest added to the excitement and energy of the event.
The Jen Smith Aloha Invitational was not just any surf contest. It was a celebration of the aloha spirit that is at the heart of surfing culture. Aloha is more than just a word. It’s a way of living and treating others with respect, love, and kindness. And this is exactly what the contest aimed to embody.
The contest was held in conjunction with the San Diego Surf Film Festival, which was running that week. This provided a perfect opportunity for surfers and surf enthusiasts from all over the world to come together and celebrate their love of surfing.
The competition was fierce, with four competitors Cayden Bainqualls, Richie Cravey, Summer Romero, and Ricky Cunningham in the finals together. Female surfer, Summer Romero, took the event win for the day with some exceptionally long rides allowing her several sections to nose ride on the same wave.
