On May 26th, 2023, the WCBR Wheat Cup Finals saw a great competition from the Huntington Beach Board Riders team. Some of the best surfers, young and veterans, from the Huntington Beach area attended. They came down to Lowers, Trestles with the focus of winning the Wheat Cup for their city.
The competition at Lowers, Trestles was hard fought. There was a great variety of talented rookies, current professional surfers, and beloved local heroes. All of whom were competing for the West Coast Board Riders championship for the city of Huntington Beach.
Many of the surfers have the advantage of being just a short drive away from Trestles Beach. It is less than one hour and the Huntington team displayed their knowledge of the wave. Of course, impressing everyone of their supporters on the beach cheering for them.

The atmosphere on the beach for the Wheat Cup Finals was pure stoke. Teams and their supporters were very loud and vocal in supporting their Board Riders. The Huntington Beach team gave their competitors a solid run for their money. Ultimately, it was the San Clemente team that took the win of the day. It was a sight to behold though, to see Huntington Beach team members give it their all. Former professional surfers such as Brett Simpson were on hand to coach and mentor all the youth competitors.
In conclusion, the WCBR Wheat Cup Finals on May 26th, 2023, will forever be etched in the surfing history books. The Huntington Beach Board Riders exhibited remarkable passion and dedication, proving that when surfers unite and give their all, they can achieve greatness.
