In this first video segment of Custom Surfing Vehicles for SLAW we caught up with Jason Shook to take a tour of his 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 4×4 van. Jason a local Encinitas surfer also spends a lot of time at the beach but also going on road trips to hunt for waves.
Jason describes the modular build out and all the accessories he had installed for his van life while on surfing road trips including components by Water Port Tanks, XPLR Outfitters, and build out by Cardiff Camper Vans.

Van life has become common place in the surfing community. Surfers having a vehicle specifically for surfing road trips and spending the day at the local beach. Jason gave us a tour of all the custom modifications he had done on his custom surfing vehicle.
The custom van build out started with Cardiff Camper Vans who install some extra insulation and sound proofing. Next when the walls were complete they installed a modular racking system into the van. This was a very important step so that Jason would be able to arrange different rack setup and move them around as needs be. Such as where to build a surfboard rack or where to hang some cargo saddle bags. As well as an entire surfboard fin collection.
Jason and a friend constructed the bed frame themselves DIY style and said it was about one days of labor. Other major components like a fresh water tank were ordered through Water Port Tanks. The custom window shades with insulation were ordered from XPLR Outfitters.
