Huge Blacks Beach Surfing Video
Blacks Beach is broken up usually into a north and south peak. On this morning the North Peak was the place to be. Due to the large swell the excess water from South Peak was pushing the swell up the beach and wedging the waves on the North. This was creating the opportunity for some bowls and huge barrels. It also meant you needed to pay close attention to swells coming and your position on the peak.
The swell from the previous weekend had brought in some of the best waves Blacks Beach had seen in a long time. Surfers were treated to big, hollow, barreling waves that were perfect for riding. It was a day that surfers had been eagerly anticipating, and it did not disappoint.
The surfers who were lucky enough to be out in the water that day included Myles Laine-Toner, JL Guinchard, Shane Tuschen, and David Suhadolnik, among others. These experienced surfers took on the challenging waves with skill and grace, catching some truly incredible rides that left onlookers in awe.
Surfers Feedback on Blacks Beach 01-14-2023 Swell
“Those set waves are larger than I’ve ever seen at Black’s.. and clean! From my experience, duck diving a sizeable wave at Black’s is quite the experience. Time stops, there is no sound.. just massive depth and energy there” – @myrmo1
“Amazing! I’ve surfed overhead Blacks long ago (maybe 10-12 foot faces but not this hollow) but I have never seen it cranking like this. Epic. People will be talking about this for decades.” – @jpatrickdowns
“Definitely one of the top 2-3 days of Black’s ever!…..I’ve surfed it and had epic sessions, but nothing quite like that. It’s an amazing place, especially when the sun is out, water is crystal clear.” – @kennymcintire8224
